Our Vision What if...
- Schools grew food for their students and neighborhood?
- Schools were examples of healthy, sustainable living?
- Schools utilized rainwater?
- Schools produced excess energy to sell back to the city?
- Classes were usually held outside?
- Students spent recess learning through play?
- Students practiced communication and collaboration?
- Students who got in trouble picked berries to give to the person they disrespected?
- Students wanted to come to school on Saturdays?
- Students could design and build their own classrooms?
- Learning was a full-body, 5 sense experience?
- Lessons came from the earth and air, not just books and DVDs?
- Teachers were guides and plants were teachers?
- Principals took care of goats and teachers were beekeepers?
- The whole neighborhood came to school to learn and play?
- Parents were not afraid to let their kids go outside?
We challenge and nurture a generation of young people to become aware of their surroundings and natural habitat and to invest in their own education and the sustainability of our planet. Starting with youth, who are so perceptive and able in this journey, we work together to share values, skills, and connections that may reach many more people, near and far.
These are our hopes and dreams, and together, we can make them happen, one school at a time. Do you share this vision for schoolyard transformation and supporting the growth and resiliency of youth? Join our efforts.
